What is a Meaningful Gift?
Share
Okay, so. I was packing up this embroidered bag last weekend — handmade, patchwork-style, very “Sunday market” vibe — and I paused mid-fold because I suddenly wasn't sure if it was… meaningful?

Like, what is a meaningful gift? I’ve gotten jewelry before. Fancy perfume. A blanket I never used. But the one thing I still keep in a drawer? A little doodle my friend scribbled on a napkin with a dumb inside joke. That’s it. That’s the one.
I think handmade gifts hit different. Maybe it’s just the imperfection. I got this eco-friendly tote once, stitched a bit crooked, tiny thread popping at the edge — still my favorite. Feels alive. You can tell someone touched it. Cared.
There’s this shop I found (by accident, actually) — mostly patchwork bags and small embroidered things. That kind of cozy. They feel like something you'd pick up for someone you actually know, not just “needed a gift real quick.”
Oh and — random thought — meaningful doesn’t mean dramatic. I once gave a friend a reusable cotton bag with a note inside: “for your farmer’s market spinach phase.” She laughed. Still uses it.
And honestly? I think that’s it. That laugh. The you-remembered-this part.
Anyway. Not sure if I made a point here. Maybe the best gifts are just the ones where you paused. Where you noticed.
If you’re into the handmade kind of thing — eco stuff, stitched stuff, human stuff — I’ll just leave this here:

That’s where I found the bag I mentioned. Might help next time you're gift-stuck.
